Planning, Growth, and the Official Plan (7):

The Strategic Plan is a 25-year document. The Official Plan is a 5-year document. Yet, technology is changing at a far more rapid pace and it is impacting the way we live in our city. Ride sharing, car sharing, and the rising impact of electric vehicles have come on so fast, that these technologies can make an "Official" plan obsolete. We need not only annual reviews of planning policies, but also real time flexibility to address community needs, changes, and opportunities. Our planning polices and documents need to be current to be defensible and to ensure we develop and grow based on our vision for our City, not someone else’s agenda.
